The cooperation of SMEs and Labour in logistics and border trade in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and China under the plan to develop an integrated transportation and logistics.

The Province in the Northeastern of Thailand is the regional economic center to the Indochina gate, which Links with neighboring countries such as the Lao PDR, Vietnam, Khmer and Cambodia, the southern of China. It is the trade gateway for ASEAN countries that will be aimed at large markets, follow with government policy in Thailand focusing on logistics provinces, regions and neighboring countries in order to independent move inputs and outputs. It has been devoted to urban expansion such as high-speed trains starting from Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Thailand, which will connect to Lao PDR, Vietnam and the Southern of China. It caused the industry in the area to grow rapidly and there were two problems that needed to be accelerated: SME owners in the logistics industry’s fall and border trade. To establish cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, such as transportation, warehousing, logistics, the use of information-sharing among member states and 6 countries LMC.

  1. SME entrepreneurs of logistics and border trade industry desire to cooperation in trade and investment, such as logistics, warehousing, sharing of logistics information among the 6 LMC countries.
  2. The staff of various industries, especially logistics industry stills a lack of logistics skills and border trade that will support growth Logistic systems in LMC countries.

According to the study, it was found that the logistics operators of the LMC countries. Logistics cooperation is required and standardized logistics personnel are required. (Center for Logistics and Border Trade Studies, Loei Rajabhat University, 2018)

The meeting to cooperation with logistics operators Between 2 – 3 March 2019 at the Khon Kaen International Convention and Exhibition Center (KICE), Khon Kaen Province. Expected outcome and Project sustainability:

  1. There is an Academic Cooperation Agreement (MOU) of the private and government universities in the LMC 6 countries to establish a guideline for cooperation of logistics and border trade of the Lancang Mekong region. It consists of SMEs entrepreneurs and jobs through a study process from the collaboration of academics in 6 countries.
  2. There is a labor skill standard in international logistics from the cooperation of 6 LMC countries.
  3. There are short-term training courses for SMEs entrepreneurs and workers to reach the labor skill standard in logistics and border trade in 6 countries with 10 courses in 7 languages.
  4. There are enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs in 6 countries of the Lancang Mekong countries. It must have at least 750 participants within 2 year period.
  5. There are least 10 years of cooperation among member countries (MOU) and increased annual income of 300,000 USD.
  6. The raise of the labor skill standard in logistics and border trade for more than 750 million people of the Lancang Mekong countries within 2 years.
  7. Reduce logistics costs more than 5% per year of the Lancang Mekong countries.

There are new international logistics entrepreneurs (International Logistics Startup) to build trade cooperation between China and LMC member countries.
